FAQ

The following document summarises the usual questions around the Chelmsford Tamil Sangam (CTS).

What is the religious/political affiliation of Chelmsford Tamil Sangam?

CTS remains a non-religious and non-political organisation. While some Indian festivals are religious in
nature and it is perfectly acceptable to wish each other on these occasions (Diwali/Christmas etc) explicit
religious/political content is not welcome. This is also applicable to all social media channels including
forwards to CTS whatsapp group/Facebook. We rely on members/individuals to curate content
(text/audio/video) before posting or forwarding.

What does Tamilan, Tamil person or a Tamil family mean?

When the words Tamilian, Tamil person or Tamil family are used in verbal or written communications of
CTS it simply means anyone who can associate themselves with Tamil language and Tamil culture.
It does not indicate verbal/written capability or lineage. Whether someone is a Tamilian or not has to be
determined by that person and that person alone!
